What is MOP order in SAP SCM-APO-PPS - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling?

SAP Term: MOP order

  • Component: SCM-APO-PPS

  • Component Name: Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling

  • Description: An order that is created using Multiple Output Planning MOP. An MOP order can contain just one operation - to divide a product - and a requirement node relevant to the division because only the characteristics of a product can be propagated upward. Furthermore, an EOG order always has more than one receipt node because the division of the product results in remnants as well as the product being produced. The remnants are represented in the production order of the ERP system as co-products with negative quantities.

  • Key Concepts:
MOP order stands for Make-or-Purchase Order. It is a type of production order used in the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Supply Chain Management (SCM) module. It is used to plan and manage the production of goods that are either made in-house or purchased from an external supplier.

    How to use it:
MOP orders are created in the PPS component of SCM. The order contains information about the product to be produced, such as the quantity, material requirements, and delivery date. The order can then be used to plan and manage the production process, including scheduling, procurement, and inventory management.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a MOP order, it is important to ensure that all necessary information is included in the order. This includes the quantity of the product to be produced, the material requirements, and the delivery date. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are aware of the order and its requirements.

    Related Information:
MOP orders are closely related to other types of production orders, such as process orders and repetitive manufacturing orders. Additionally, MOP orders are often used in conjunction with other components of SCM, such as Demand Planning and Supply Network Planning.
