  • Key Concepts:
Dependent requirements are a type of requirement in the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Supply Chain Management (SCM) module. Dependent requirements are created when a material is required for production, but the quantity of the material needed is dependent on the quantity of another material that is also required for production.

    How to use it:
In order to create a dependent requirement in SAP, you must first create an independent requirement. This is done by entering the material number, quantity, and date into the system. Once this is done, you can then create a dependent requirement by entering the material number and quantity of the second material that is needed for production. The system will then calculate the total quantity of both materials that are needed for production.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating dependent requirements in SAP, it is important to remember that the total quantity of both materials must be equal to or greater than the quantity of the independent requirement. This ensures that all materials needed for production are accounted for. Additionally, it is important to keep track of any changes in the quantities of materials needed for production as this can affect the total quantity of both materials required.

    Related Information:
Dependent requirements are just one type of requirement in SAP's SCM-APO-PPS module. Other types of requirements include independent requirements, planned orders, and purchase orders. Additionally, there are various tools available in SAP that can help you manage and track your requirements such as the Requirement Planning (RP) tool and the Production Planning (PP) tool.
