SAP Term: cross-order relationship

Smart SAP Assistant

  • Key Concepts:
Cross-order relationship is a feature of the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) module. It allows users to link multiple orders together, allowing them to be planned and scheduled as a single unit. This helps to ensure that all orders are fulfilled in an efficient manner, while also allowing for better resource utilization.

    How to use it:
To use the cross-order relationship feature, users must first create a master order. This order will contain all of the necessary information for the other orders that will be linked to it. Once the master order is created, users can then link other orders to it by selecting the “Link Orders” option in the PPS menu. This will allow users to view all of the linked orders in one place, making it easier to plan and schedule them as a single unit.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a master order, it is important to make sure that all of the necessary information is included. This includes details such as product type, quantity, delivery date, and any other relevant information. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all of the linked orders are compatible with each other. For example, if one order requires a certain type of material that another order does not have, then they cannot be linked together.

    Related Information:
The cross-order relationship feature is just one of many features available in SAP's APO module. Other features include demand planning, supply network planning, and global available-to-promise. Additionally, SAP offers a variety of training courses and resources to help users get the most out of their APO implementation.
