Component: SCM-APO-FCS
Component Name: Demand Planning
Description: Defines the time buckets in which data based on a given planning area is saved in or Supply Network Planning. A storage buckets profile specifies: One or more periodicities in which data is saved. The horizon during which the profile is valid. A time stream ID for data that is saved in buckets finer than days. The time stream must be as long as or longer than the horizon. It must not be shorter than the horizon. The number of days for data that is saved in a fixed number of rolling days at the beginning of the planning horizon, and after that in a larger bucket. Weekly data that falls into two months is saved in separate storage buckets.
Key Concepts: Storage buckets profile is a feature of SAP's Demand Planning component of SCM-APO-FCS. It is used to define the time intervals in which the demand for a product is forecasted. The intervals are referred to as “buckets” and can be defined in terms of days, weeks, months, or years. How to use it: To use the storage buckets profile, you must first define the time intervals that you want to use for forecasting. This can be done by selecting the “Storage Buckets Profile” option from the Demand Planning menu. You can then specify the length of each interval and the start and end dates for each interval. Once you have defined your intervals, you can then use them to forecast demand for a product. Tips & Tricks: When defining your storage buckets profile, it is important to consider the length of each interval and how it will affect your forecast accuracy. For example, if you are forecasting demand for a product with a long lead time, you may want to use longer intervals such as months or years. On the other hand, if you are forecasting demand for a product with a short lead time, you may want to use shorter intervals such as days or weeks.
