What is priority in SAP PY - Payroll?

  • Description: The status of a voluntary deduction for arrears processing. Deductions with the highest priority are the first to be subtracted from an employee's remuneration, while deductions with the lowest priority are the last to be subtracted. You use Customizing for to assign priorities to individual deduction wage types. &EXAMPLE& You can assign priorities so that amounts are always deducted from an employee's net remuneration in the following order: garnishments first, then repayment installments for a company loan, and finally contributions to a gym.

    Priority in SAP Payroll is a feature that allows you to assign a priority to each payroll element. This priority determines the order in which the payroll elements are processed. The higher the priority, the earlier the element is processed. 
    
    How to use it: 
    To assign a priority to a payroll element, go to the “Payroll Elements” tab in the SAP Payroll system. Select the element you want to assign a priority to and click on “Edit”. In the “Priority” field, enter the desired priority number. The higher the number, the higher the priority. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When assigning priorities, it is important to consider how each element affects other elements. For example, if one element affects another element’s calculation, it should be given a higher priority than the other element.
