  • Component Name: Payroll

  • Description: A group of employees included in the same payroll run. A payroll area is used to group employees together who have the same payroll periodicity, for whom the payroll runs at the same time, who have the same payment date, and to whom the same earliest possible retroactive accounting period applies. &EXAMPLE& area Salaried Employees monthly payroll run on 25th of each month area Retired Employee monthly payroll run on 20th of each month area Weekly Wage Earners weekly payroll run on each Friday

    A payroll area is a logical grouping of employees in SAP Payroll. It is used to define the payroll processing rules and parameters for a group of employees. It is also used to assign the payroll results to the appropriate cost centers and general ledger accounts. 
    
    How to use it: 
    Payroll areas are created in the Customizing for Payroll component. The payroll area is assigned to each employee in the Personnel Administration component. The payroll area is then used to determine the payroll processing rules and parameters for each employee.
