What is baseline in SAP PS - Project System?

  • Description: The original plan for a project or part of a project. It is generally agreed upon by management and the customer. As such it serves as a basis for comparison. In general changes to the baseline require approval.

    Baseline in SAP Project System (PS) is a snapshot of the project plan at a certain point in time. It is used to compare the actual progress of the project with the planned progress. The baseline can be used to identify any deviations from the original plan and take corrective action. 
    
    How to use it: 
    Baseline can be created in SAP PS by selecting the project and then going to the ‘Baseline’ tab. Here, you can select the elements that you want to include in the baseline and then click on ‘Create Baseline’. Once the baseline is created, it can be used to compare the actual progress of the project with the planned progress. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    It is important to create a baseline at regular intervals so that any deviations from the original plan can be identified and corrective action can be taken. It is also important to ensure that all relevant elements are included in the baseline so that an accurate comparison can be made.
