• Description: Is a special case of discontinuation in which a group of materials is replaced at the same time, each material by its own successor material. One material is defined as the main material to discontinue. When there is no stock of this material, dependent requirements for the whole group of materials are transferred to the follow-up material. Example You replace a drive belt in a machine. This means you also have to replace the manual in which the spare numbers are listed.

  Parallel discontinuation is a feature in SAP Production Planning and Control (PP) that allows for the simultaneous discontinuation of multiple materials. This feature is useful when a company needs to discontinue a large number of materials at once, such as when a product line is being discontinued. 
  
  How to use it: 
  To use the parallel discontinuation feature, the user must first select the materials that need to be discontinued. This can be done by selecting the materials in the material master or by using a selection screen. Once the materials have been selected, the user can then enter the date on which the discontinuation should take effect. The system will then automatically discontinue all of the selected materials on that date. 
  
  Tips & Tricks: 
  When using parallel discontinuation, it is important to ensure that all of the selected materials are actually being discontinued. To do this, it is recommended that the user check the material master after running the parallel discontinuation process to make sure that all of the selected materials have been marked as discontinued.
