  • Key Concepts:
BOM comparison is a feature of SAP Production Planning and Control (PP) that allows users to compare two different Bill of Materials (BOMs) and identify any differences between them. This comparison can be done manually or automatically, depending on the user’s preference. The comparison will show any changes in the components, quantities, and other attributes of the BOMs.

    How to use it:
To use BOM comparison, first select the two BOMs that you want to compare. Then, select the comparison type (manual or automatic). If you choose manual comparison, you will need to manually enter the differences between the two BOMs. If you choose automatic comparison, SAP will automatically detect any differences between the two BOMs. Once the comparison is complete, you can view the results and make any necessary changes.

    Tips & Tricks:
When comparing two BOMs, it is important to remember that some components may have different names but are actually the same item. For example, a component may be referred to as “Part A” in one BOM and “Part B” in another. In this case, it is important to make sure that both components are included in the comparison so that any differences are accurately identified.
