What is start offset in SAP PM - Plant Maintenance?

  • Description: A period of time after which a maintenance package becomes due for the first time. A start offset must be specified if a different period of time is valid the first time the maintenance package is performed. For example, if thelength of the cycle is two years, but the package is performed for the first time after three years.

    Start offset is a feature in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) that allows users to define the start date of a maintenance plan. This start date can be used to determine when the maintenance plan should be executed. The start offset is defined in days, weeks, months, or years from the current date.

    To use the start offset feature in SAP PM, users must first create a maintenance plan. Once the plan is created, users can select the “Start Offset” option from the menu. From there, users can enter the desired number of days, weeks, months, or years from the current date that they would like the maintenance plan to begin.

    When setting up a maintenance plan with a start offset, it is important to remember that the start date will be calculated from the current date. Therefore, if you need to adjust the start date of a plan, you will need to adjust the start offset accordingly.
