What is one-way link in SAP PM - Plant Maintenance?


SAP Term: one-way link

  • Description: The linking of two or more technical objects between which a medium is transferred in one single direction. &EXAMPLE& Pump A, Pump B, and Pump C are linked to each other by water pipes. The water is pumped from Pump A to Pump B and from Pump B to Pump C. This link is "one-way."

    A one-way link in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) is a connection between two objects that allows data to be transferred from one object to another. This type of link is unidirectional, meaning that data can only be transferred from the source object to the target object. It cannot be transferred back from the target object to the source object.

    One-way links are used in SAP PM to connect two objects, such as a functional location and an equipment, so that data can be transferred from one object to another. To create a one-way link, you must first select the source object and then select the target object. Once the link is created, data can be transferred from the source object to the target object. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When creating a one-way link, it is important to remember that data can only be transferred from the source object to the target object. It cannot be transferred back from the target object to the source object. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all necessary data is transferred when creating a one-way link.
