What is orthographic view in SAP PLM-WUI-APP - PLM Web Applications?

SAP Term: orthographic view

  • Component: PLM-WUI-APP

  • Component Name: PLM Web Applications

  • Description: A type of view that displays the scene from the selected viewpoint. Orthographic views are a type of parallel projection used for drawing engineering blueprints and is used for accurate description of objects and their positioning. Most 3D design relies on 2D representations or 'orthographic' views, for example, maps, plans, cross-sections, and elevations. In familiar terms, you might think of these views as 'flat' or 'straight-on', or as 'looking at right angles'. Orthographic views are two-dimensional, each defined by two world coordinate axes. Combinations of these axes produce three pairs of orthographic views: top and bottom; front and back; left and right.
