  Control variable is a feature of the Position Budgeting and Control component of SAP. It is used to define the budgeting and control parameters for a position.   How to use it: 
  To use control variable, first select the position for which you want to set up budgeting and control rules. Then, select the control variable option from the menu. You will then be able to enter the parameters for the position, such as the maximum number of hours that can be worked, the maximum amount of overtime that can be worked, and the maximum amount of vacation time that can be taken. Once you have entered all of the parameters, click “Save” to save your changes. 
  
  Tips & Tricks: 
  When setting up budgeting and control rules for a position using control variable, it is important to remember that these rules are only applicable to that particular position. If you want to apply these rules to multiple positions, you will need to set up separate control variables for each position.
