  • Key Concepts:
A coverage rule variant is a feature of the SAP Benefits module (PA-BN) that allows users to define different coverage rules for different employee groups. Coverage rules are used to determine which employees are eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance or retirement plans. Coverage rule variants allow users to customize the rules for each employee group, making it easier to manage employee benefits.

    How to use it:
To use coverage rule variants, users must first create a coverage rule in the Benefits module. This rule will define the criteria for eligibility for a particular benefit. Once the rule is created, users can create a coverage rule variant by selecting the “Create Variant” option from the menu. This will open a window where users can customize the criteria for eligibility for each employee group.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating coverage rule variants, it is important to remember that each variant must have unique criteria. If two variants have identical criteria, they will be treated as one variant and will not be applied correctly. Additionally, it is important to keep track of which variants are active and which are inactive, as inactive variants will not be applied.
