Component Name: Inventory Management
Description: The stock of materials returned by customers subject to conditional acceptance by the receiving enterprise. Blocked returns are not valuated or part of "unrestricted-use" stock.
Term: Blocked Stock Returns
Component: MM-IM Inventory Management
Definition: Blocked stock returns refer to the process of returning materials that are currently classified as 'blocked stock' in inventory. Blocked stock is stock that is physically present but restricted from use or sale due to quality issues, inspection status, or other reasons. When such stock is returned to the vendor or another location, it is called a blocked stock return.
How It’s Used: In real SAP projects, blocked stock returns occur when materials that failed quality inspection or were found defective need to be sent back to the supplier. For example, after a quality inspection (using QM integration), materials may be moved to blocked stock. If the decision is made to return these materials, a blocked stock return process is initiated to update inventory and financial records accordingly. This ensures that the blocked stock quantity is reduced and the vendor return process is properly documented.
