What is Plant Information Catalog in SAP MFG-MII - SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII)?

SAP Term: Plant Information Catalog

  • Component: MFG-MII

  • Component Name: SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII)

  • Description: The Plant Information Catalog screen contains the hierarchical structureof assets from a high level down to the tag and group level. The hierarchical structure is created in order to provide business context to the tags and their data by interfacing to the tag data servers in a generic way. Because of the vendor-agnostic system connectivity provided by both the MII and PCo products, levels in this hierarchy can be queried for data using standard MII Queries or Services. This sensor network data can also be combined with data from the SAP ERP EAM and PP-PI hierarchies in order to add additional reference context around the tag values and facilitate identification of tags for reporting and visualization requirements and provides a complete end-to-end reference model of the various systems across single or multiple locations.

It stores information about the plant, such as its location, equipment, and processes. It also stores information about the products and services that are produced in the plant. The PIC can be accessed through the SAP MII web interface. Once logged in, users can view and edit the information stored in the PIC. This includes adding new plants, equipment, and processes, as well as updating existing information. The PIC also allows users to create reports based on the stored data.

When creating new plants or equipment in the PIC, it is important to ensure that all relevant information is included. This includes details such as location, size, and capacity. Additionally, it is important to keep the PIC up-to-date with any changes that occur in the plant. This will ensure that all stakeholders have access to accurate and up-to-date information.

These modules allow users to manage maintenance tasks and plan production activities respectively. Additionally, the PIC can be integrated with other systems such as ERP systems or SCADA systems for further automation and efficiency gains.
