  • Description: Industry Solution - Telecommunications The billing category defines an object such as a billing rate or billing rule with reference to its EDR processing during EDR management. The following billing categories are available: EDR-based billing Non-EDR-based billing In the Customizing settings for the billing account item type, the billing category defines the billing rate types that can be used in billing account items of this billing account item type. This also indirectly defines the billing rates that can be found for a billing account item during billing rate determination. In the Customizing settings for the billing rate, the billing category defines the billing rules that can be used. In the billing rule, the billing category defines whether the rule processes EDRs and whether operands must be specified to execute the billing rule. You can only assign objects to objects with the same billing category.

    Billing category is a feature of the IS-T SAP for Telecommunications component that allows users to group their billing documents into categories. This helps to organize and manage billing documents more efficiently. The categories can be based on customer type, product type, or any other criteria that the user chooses. 
    
    How to use it: 
    To use the billing category feature, users must first create a category in the system. This can be done by going to the “Billing Category” tab in the IS-T SAP for Telecommunications component. From there, users can enter a name for the category and select the criteria that will be used to group documents into this category. Once the category is created, users can assign documents to it by selecting the appropriate category from a drop-down menu when creating or editing a document. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When creating categories, it is important to choose criteria that are specific enough to accurately group documents but not so specific that it becomes difficult to find documents when needed. It is also helpful to create multiple categories so that documents can be grouped in different ways depending on the user’s needs.
