• Description: A venue for refining oil used as a substitute when the default factory does not have sufficient availability. In this case, the system searches the pre-defined list of alternative plants until one with availability is found. A list of up to four alternative plants can be defined and checked. Alternative plant is usedin enhanced plant availability checking.

  Alternative Plant is a feature in the IS-OIL-DS-MCO Marketing, Contract and Order Entry component of SAP that allows users to assign a different plant to an order or contract. This is useful when the customer requires a different plant than the one assigned to the order or contract. 
  
  How to use it: 
  To assign an alternative plant to an order or contract, go to the “Order/Contract” tab in the IS-OIL-DS-MCO Marketing, Contract and Order Entry component. Select the “Alternative Plant” option from the dropdown menu. Enter the desired plant code and click “Save”. 
  
  Tips & Tricks: 
  When assigning an alternative plant, make sure that the plant code is valid and that it is assigned to the correct order or contract. Also, be sure to double check that all of the necessary information is entered correctly before saving.
