What is source allocation scheduling logic II in SAP IS-AFS-MM - Materials Management?

SAP Term: source allocation scheduling logic II

  • Component: IS-AFS-MM

  • Component Name: Materials Management

  • Description: A methodology in the source allocation with which open purchase requisitions are checked for vendor capacity. During this process the system assigns open purchase requisitions to sequentially open capacity periods. Unlike the source allocation scheduling logic I, the system processes one purchase requisition at a time and postpones each individual purchase requisition until it can be assigned to an open capacity period. Only when the first purchase requisition from the list has been assigned, does the system begin with the assignment of the second one. The assignment of the third purchase requistion follows the successful assignment of the second. This process is repeated until all open purchase requisitions have been assigned.

The logic also allows for the creation of rules and constraints to further refine the decision-making process.

    How to use it:
Source allocation scheduling logic II can be used to determine the best source of supply for a given material requirement. This can be done by entering the material requirements into the system and then setting up rules and constraints to further refine the decision-making process. Once the system has determined the optimal source of supply, it can be used to generate purchase orders or other documents related to the material requirement.

    Tips & Tricks:
When setting up rules and constraints for source allocation scheduling logic II, it is important to consider factors such as availability, cost, and delivery time. This will ensure that the system is able to make an informed decision about which source of supply is best for a given material requirement. Additionally, it is important to regularly review and update these rules and constraints in order to ensure that they are still relevant and accurate.
