What is package variant in SAP IS-A-DBM - Dealer Business Management?

SAP Term: package variant

Smart SAP Assistant

  • Key Concepts: A package variant is a feature of the IS-A-DBM Dealer Business Management component of SAP software. It allows users to create and manage multiple versions of a package, each with its own set of parameters and settings. This allows users to quickly switch between different versions of the same package, making it easier to test and deploy changes.
How to use it: To use package variants, users must first create a package in the IS-A-DBM Dealer Business Management component. Once the package is created, users can create multiple variants of the same package by selecting the “Create Variant” option from the menu. This will open a window where users can enter the parameters and settings for the variant. Once saved, users can switch between variants by selecting the “Switch Variant” option from the menu.
Tips & Tricks: When creating variants, it is important to give each variant a descriptive name so that it is easy to identify later on. Additionally, it is important to save changes to each variant before switching to another one, as any unsaved changes will be lost when switching variants.
