  • Key Concepts:
Hit policy is a feature of the SAP HANA Rules Framework (HAN-AS-RUL) that allows users to define the order in which rules are evaluated. It is used to determine which rule should be applied first when multiple rules are applicable to a given situation. The hit policy can be set to either “first hit” or “all hits”. In “first hit” mode, the first applicable rule is applied and no further rules are evaluated. In “all hits” mode, all applicable rules are evaluated and the result of the last rule is used as the final result.

    How to use it:
To use the hit policy feature, users must first create a set of rules that define how they want their system to behave in different situations. Once these rules have been created, users can then set the hit policy for each rule set. This can be done by selecting either “first hit” or “all hits” from the drop-down menu in the rule set editor. Once the hit policy has been set, it will be applied whenever the rule set is executed.

    Tips & Tricks:
When setting a hit policy, it is important to consider how the rules interact with each other and how they will affect the overall system behavior. For example, if two rules conflict with each other, setting a “first hit” policy may cause one of them to be ignored while setting an “all hits” policy may cause both of them to be applied. It is also important to consider performance when setting a hit policy; using an “all hits” policy may cause performance issues if there are too many applicable rules.
