What is 'valuation view' in SAP FIN-BAC-INV - Inventory Accounting?

valuation view - Overview

valuation view - Details

  • Key Concepts: Valuation view is a feature of the SAP Inventory Accounting component that allows users to assign different valuation methods to different materials. This allows users to track the value of their inventory more accurately and efficiently. Valuation views can be used to assign different valuation methods to different materials, such as FIFO (First In, First Out), LIFO (Last In, First Out), or Average Cost.
How to use it: To use the Valuation View feature, users must first create a valuation view in the SAP system. This can be done by navigating to the “Valuation Views” tab in the Inventory Accounting component. Once a valuation view has been created, users can assign it to specific materials by navigating to the “Material Master” tab and selecting the “Valuation View” option.
Tips & Tricks: When creating a valuation view, it is important to consider which valuation method is best suited for each material. For example, FIFO is best suited for materials with short shelf lives, while LIFO is better for materials with longer shelf lives. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all materials have a valuation view assigned to them in order for the system to accurately track their value.
