Smart SAP Assistant

  • Key Concepts:
Quantity type is a feature of SAP Inventory Accounting that allows users to define different types of quantities for inventory items. This allows users to track different types of inventory items, such as raw materials, finished goods, and semi-finished goods. The quantity type also determines how the inventory item is valued in the system.

    How to use it:
In order to use the quantity type feature, users must first define the different types of quantities they wish to track. This can be done in the Customizing menu under Inventory Accounting > Quantity Types. Once the quantity types have been defined, users can assign them to inventory items in the Material Master Data screen.

    Tips & Tricks:
When defining quantity types, it is important to consider how they will be used in the system. For example, if a user wishes to track raw materials and finished goods separately, they should create two separate quantity types for each item. This will ensure that the system values each item correctly.
