What is approval level in SAP FI-AP - Accounts Payable?

  • Description: A stage in the approval process used to review and, if necessary, edit payment data before releasing items for payment. The number of approval levels defined varies depending on accounting requirements. At each level, payment data is reviewed and approved by different persons. The final level of approval releases the items for payment, but does not automatically initiate payment.

    Approval level is a feature of the FI-AP Accounts Payable component in SAP. It is used to define the number of levels of approval required for a payment request. Each level of approval can be assigned to a different user or group of users, and each level must be approved before the payment request can be processed. 
    
    How to use it: 
    To set up an approval level, first create a payment request in the FI-AP Accounts Payable component. Then, select the “Approval Level” option from the menu. Here, you can define the number of levels of approval required for the payment request. For each level, you can assign a user or group of users who will need to approve the payment request before it can be processed. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    It is important to ensure that all users assigned to an approval level have access to the FI-AP Accounts Payable component. This will ensure that they are able to approve payment requests in a timely manner. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all users assigned to an approval level are aware of their responsibilities and have been trained on how to use the FI-AP Accounts Payable component.
