Key Concepts: Depreciation groups are used in SAP Asset Accounting (FI-AA) to group assets together for the purpose of calculating depreciation. A depreciation group is a collection of assets that have similar characteristics, such as the same useful life, same depreciation method, and same depreciation area. The depreciation group is used to assign the same depreciation key to all assets in the group. How to use it: In order to use a depreciation group, you must first create it in the system. This can be done by going to the Asset Accounting menu and selecting “Create Depreciation Group”. Once the group is created, you can assign assets to it by going to the Asset Master Data screen and selecting “Assign Depreciation Group”. Tips & Tricks: When creating a depreciation group, it is important to consider how often you will need to update it. If you anticipate needing to make frequent changes, it may be beneficial to create multiple groups with different characteristics so that you can easily update them as needed.
