  • Key Concepts:
SumParent is a term used in SAP EPM-BPC Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC). It is a special type of parent node in a BPC hierarchy that allows for the aggregation of multiple child nodes into a single value. This value can be used to represent the total of all the child nodes, or it can be used to represent the average of all the child nodes.

    How to use it:
SumParents are used to simplify the data structure of a BPC hierarchy. They are created by selecting multiple child nodes and then selecting “Create SumParent” from the context menu. Once created, the SumParent will automatically aggregate the values of its child nodes into a single value. This value can then be used in calculations or reports.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a SumParent, it is important to ensure that all of the child nodes have the same data type. If they do not, then the SumParent will not be able to aggregate their values correctly. Additionally, it is important to note that SumParents cannot be nested within other SumParents.
