  • Key Concepts:
Entity-type dimension is a feature of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (EPM-BPC) that allows users to define different types of entities, such as companies, departments, and cost centers. This feature enables users to create a hierarchy of entities and assign different characteristics to each entity type.

    How to use it:
To use the entity-type dimension feature, users must first define the different types of entities they want to include in their hierarchy. Once the entities have been defined, users can assign different characteristics to each entity type. For example, a company entity might have a “name” characteristic while a department entity might have a “location” characteristic. Finally, users can create a hierarchy of entities by assigning parent and child relationships between them.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating an entity-type dimension hierarchy, it is important to consider how the different entities will interact with each other. For example, if a company entity has a “name” characteristic and a department entity has a “location” characteristic, then it may be beneficial to create a relationship between the two so that the department’s location can be determined based on the company’s name.
