What is FPN connection in SAP EP-PIN-GP - Global Portal?

  • Component Name: Global Portal

  • Description: A logical entity that is created by a system administrator which pairs two SAP Netweaver portals within a federated portal network. An FPN connection facilitates the sharing of portal content between the systems by means of the 'remote role assignment' and 'remote delta link' usage modes. The system giving content to the other is called the producer portal, and the system receiving content from the other is called the consumer portal. A single FPN connection can serve two systems that share content with each other in both directions.

    FPN connection is a component of the SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) Global Portal (GP) that enables secure communication between the portal and external systems. It is used to establish a secure connection between the portal and external systems, such as SAP systems, non-SAP systems, and web services.

    To use FPN connection, you must first configure the connection in the EP-PIN-GP Global Portal. This includes setting up the connection parameters, such as the URL of the external system, authentication type, and other settings. Once configured, you can use FPN connection to securely access external systems from within the portal. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When configuring FPN connection, make sure to use a secure protocol such as HTTPS or SFTP. Additionally, make sure to use strong authentication methods such as two-factor authentication or certificate-based authentication.
