What is obsolete record in SAP EIM-MDS-GOV - MDS Governance?


SAP Term: obsolete record

  • Component: EIM-MDS-GOV

  • Component Name: MDS Governance

  • Description: A source record that once existed as a non-governed record in a source record cluster but was later sent for governance from SAP Master Data Services. Upon confirmation of governance, this record is replaced with the governed record in the source record cluster and can no longer be updated by its original source system.

  • Key Concepts: 
    An obsolete record is a record in the SAP EIM-MDS-GOV MDS Governance component that is no longer valid or relevant. It is marked as obsolete and can no longer be used for any purpose. 
    
    How to use it: 
    In order to mark a record as obsolete, you must first select the record in the SAP EIM-MDS-GOV MDS Governance component. Then, you can click on the “Mark as Obsolete” button to mark the record as obsolete. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    It is important to note that once a record is marked as obsolete, it cannot be reversed. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you are certain that the record is no longer valid or relevant before marking it as obsolete.
