What is subassignment in SAP EC-CS - Consolidation?


SAP Term: subassignment

  • Component: EC-CS

  • Component Name: Consolidation

  • Description: A characteristic that can further differentiate "break down" the values of characteristic "financial statement item". SAP delivers the following predefined subassignments: Subitem category and subitem Partner unit Year of acquisition Period of acquisition Transaction currency Unit of measure The value assignments to the characteristic "subitem" is free, which means that you can use the characteristic in any way you prefer - for example, for the assignment of transaction types or regions. The breakdown category of a financial statement item determines how the subitem is used. In addition to the predefined subassignments, you can define custom subassignments that extend the consolidation database. Examples for this might be the fields "Country" and "Product Group."

    Subassignment is a feature of the SAP EC-CS Consolidation component that allows users to assign a sub-group of accounts to a particular consolidation group. This allows for more granular control over the consolidation process, as users can assign different accounts to different consolidation groups. 
    
    How to use it: 
    To use subassignment, users must first create a consolidation group in the SAP EC-CS Consolidation component. Once the group is created, users can then assign individual accounts to the group by selecting the “Subassign” option from the menu. This will open a window where users can select which accounts they want to assign to the group. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When using subassignment, it is important to remember that only accounts that are assigned to a particular consolidation group will be included in the consolidation process. Therefore, it is important to ensure that all relevant accounts are assigned to the correct groups before running the consolidation process.
