What is posting level in SAP EC-CS - Consolidation?

  • Description: A classification of posting entries in the system. Posting levels enable you to distinguish between the following types of entries: Adjustments to reported financial data Standardizing entries Reconciliation entries Elimination entries entries Divestitures Differentiation by posting levels is used by the SAP system to check postings; it also enables you to select data by posting level.

  • Key Concepts: 
    Posting level is a concept used in the EC-CS Consolidation component of SAP. It is used to define the level of detail that is posted to the consolidation system. Posting levels can be set to either “Detailed” or “Summary”. When set to “Detailed”, all transactions are posted to the consolidation system. When set to “Summary”, only summary information is posted. 
    
    How to use it: 
    The posting level can be set in the EC-CS Consolidation component of SAP. To do this, go to the “Settings” tab and select “Posting Level”. From there, you can select either “Detailed” or “Summary”. Once you have selected your desired posting level, click “Save” to apply the changes. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    It is important to note that when setting the posting level, it will apply to all transactions in the consolidation system. Therefore, it is important to consider how much detail you need before setting the posting level. If you need more detailed information, it is best to set the posting level to “Detailed”. If you only need summary information, it is best to set the posting level to “Summary”.
