  • Key Concepts:
Dependent characteristics are used in the EC-CS Consolidation component of SAP to define the relationship between two characteristics. This relationship is used to determine the value of one characteristic based on the value of another. For example, a dependent characteristic might be used to define a relationship between a company's sales region and its corresponding sales manager.

    How to use it:
In order to use dependent characteristics in EC-CS Consolidation, you must first define the relationship between two characteristics. This can be done by creating a mapping table that contains the values for each characteristic. Once the mapping table is created, you can then assign the dependent characteristic to a consolidation unit or group of consolidation units. This will ensure that when a value is entered for one characteristic, the corresponding value for the other characteristic will be automatically populated.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a mapping table for dependent characteristics, it is important to ensure that all possible combinations of values are included in the table. This will ensure that all values are correctly populated when entering data into EC-CS Consolidation. Additionally, it is important to keep the mapping table up-to-date as changes in values may occur over time.
