What is run mode in SAP CA-GTF - General Application Functions?


SAP Term: run mode

  • Component Name: General Application Functions

  • Description: An object that determines how a batch input session is processed. You can choose between three processing types: Process in foreground - all screens of the transaction are displayed. Field values can be changed. Display errors only - only the screens that contain errors such as invalid field values are displayed. In the background - the BI folder is scheduled for immediate processing in the background processing system.

    Run mode is a feature of the CA-GTF General Application Functions component of SAP software. It is used to control the execution of a program or transaction. It can be used to set the program or transaction to run in either foreground or background mode. 
    
    How to use it: 
    Run mode can be set in the program or transaction properties. To do this, open the program or transaction and select the “Run” tab. From there, you can select either “Foreground” or “Background” mode. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When setting run mode, it is important to consider the resources that will be required for the program or transaction. If it requires a lot of resources, it may be better to run it in background mode so that other programs or transactions can still be executed while it is running.
