What is change order type in SAP CA-GTF-ECM - Engineering Change Management?

SAP Term: change order type

  • Component: CA-GTF-ECM

  • Component Name: Engineering Change Management

  • Description: Classification of change orders to control different change processes. The change processes can be controlled by the following types: Normal This type allows an object to be changed historically. A new change state is created for the change object. The validity data is determined from the order. Only validity This type allows the validity of an object state to be changed. This makes it possible for individual objects to have different validities within one change process. For these objects, the old validity is ignored. Because no object data is changed with this order, no new change state is generated for the objects. Only corrections This type allows an object to be changed again after a previously released change. The correction order does not contain any validity data. The validity data of the previously released order apply to the corrections or enhancements.

When creating change order types, it is important to make sure that the names and descriptions are clear and easy to understand.
