Component: CA-CL
Component Name: Classification
Description: A transfer of assigned characteristic values from superior classes to all subordinate classes in the network or hierarchy. You can assign values to the characteristics in the subordinate class, provided that you select a value from the allowed values that are inherited.
Key Concepts: Characteristic value inheritance is a feature of the CA-CL Classification component of SAP. It allows for the automatic inheritance of characteristic values from parent nodes to child nodes in a classification tree. This means that when a characteristic value is assigned to a parent node, it will automatically be assigned to all of its child nodes as well. How to use it: In order to use characteristic value inheritance, you must first create a classification tree in the CA-CL Classification component. Once the tree is created, you can assign characteristic values to the parent nodes. These values will then be automatically inherited by all of the child nodes. Tips & Tricks: It is important to note that characteristic value inheritance only works for characteristics that are marked as “inheritable” in the CA-CL Classification component. If a characteristic is not marked as inheritable, then it will not be inherited by the child nodes.
