In the supply protection object, protection groups can be built by using combinations of characteristics and their values CVCs. Protected quantities and priorities can be assigned to these groups.
Key Concepts: A supply protection object is a component of the Available-to-Promise (ATP) module in SAP. It is used to protect the supply of a material from being oversold. The supply protection object ensures that the quantity of a material available for sale is not exceeded, even if multiple sales orders are placed for the same material. How to use it: The supply protection object can be used to set a maximum quantity of a material that can be sold. This maximum quantity can be set manually or automatically based on the current stock levels. When a sales order is placed for a material, the ATP module will check the supply protection object to ensure that the order does not exceed the maximum quantity. If it does, the order will be rejected. Tips & Tricks: It is important to ensure that the supply protection object is set correctly in order to avoid overstocking or overselling materials. It is also important to regularly review and update the maximum quantity set in the supply protection object in order to ensure that it reflects current stock levels. Related Information: The ATP module also includes other components such as availability checks and delivery dates which can be used to manage inventory and ensure customer satisfaction.
