  • Key Concepts:
Authorization trace is a tool used in SAP BC-SEC-USR User Administration to analyze the authorization checks that are performed when a user attempts to access a certain transaction or function. It allows administrators to identify which authorization objects and values are checked, and which ones are missing or incorrect.

    How to use it:
To use the authorization trace, the administrator must first activate it in the system. This can be done by going to the “User Administration” menu and selecting “Authorization Trace”. Once activated, the administrator can then enter the user ID and transaction code of the user they wish to trace. The system will then display a list of all authorization objects and values that are checked when the user attempts to access the transaction.

    Tips & Tricks:
When using authorization trace, it is important to remember that only active authorizations will be displayed. If an authorization is inactive, it will not be displayed in the trace results. Additionally, it is important to note that authorization trace only works for transactions and functions that require authorization checks. If a transaction does not require any authorization checks, then no results will be displayed.
