What is encapsulated in SAP BC-DWB-TOO-PAK - Package Tools?

SAP Term: encapsulated

  • Component: BC-DWB-TOO-PAK

  • Component Name: Package Tools

  • Description: Highest encapsulation level of a package black box This setting offers the greatest protection against external attempts to access package content. This means that a repository object that was not exposed explicitly on a package interface cannot be accessed from outside its own package. If these stringent rules are breached, package errors occur that may trigger errors or warnings in the syntax and DDIC checks depending on the system settings. This encapsulation level is recommended for new developments.

  • Key Concepts:
Encapsulated is a term used in the SAP BC-DWB-TOO-PAK Package Tools component. It refers to the process of packaging a set of related objects into a single unit, which can then be used as a single entity. This allows for easier management and deployment of the objects, as they can be treated as a single unit.

    How to use it:
In order to use encapsulation, you must first create a package. This is done by selecting the objects that you want to include in the package and then selecting the “Create Package” option from the menu. Once the package is created, you can then deploy it as a single unit.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating packages, it is important to ensure that all of the objects included in the package are related and necessary for the task at hand. This will help to ensure that the package is as efficient and effective as possible. Additionally, it is important to keep track of which packages have been deployed and which ones are still in development.

    Related Information:
Encapsulation is also used in other components of SAP, such as BC-DWB-TOO-DAT Data Transfer Tools and BC-DWB-TOO-SAP SAP Tools. Additionally, there are other techniques for packaging objects, such as object linking and embedding (OLE).
