What is 'quotation mark' in SAP BC-DOC - Documentation and Translation Tools?

quotation mark - Overview

quotation mark - Details

  • Key Concepts: A quotation mark is a special character used in SAP to indicate a literal string of text. It is used to differentiate between text that is part of the program code and text that is meant to be displayed as part of the output. Quotation marks are also used to indicate the beginning and end of a string of text.
How to use it: In SAP, quotation marks are used to enclose literal strings of text. This means that any text within quotation marks will be treated as a literal string and not as part of the program code. For example, if you wanted to display the phrase “Hello World” in an SAP program, you would need to enclose it in quotation marks like this: “Hello World”.
Tips & Tricks: When using quotation marks in SAP, it is important to remember that they must be used in pairs. This means that for every opening quotation mark, there must be a corresponding closing quotation mark. If there is not a corresponding closing quotation mark, then the program will not run correctly.
Related Information: Quotation marks are just one of many special characters used in SAP. Other special characters include brackets, braces, and parentheses. These characters are all used for different purposes and should be used appropriately when writing SAP programs.
