What is host name lookup in SAP BC-CST-IC - Internet Communication Manager?

SAP Term: host name lookup

Smart SAP Assistant

  • Key Concepts:
Host name lookup is a feature of the SAP Internet Communication Manager (ICM) component. It allows the ICM to resolve a host name to an IP address. This is done by querying a Domain Name System (DNS) server. The ICM can then use the IP address to establish a connection with the host.

    How to use it:
The host name lookup feature is enabled by default in the ICM. To use it, simply enter the host name in the ICM configuration and the ICM will query the DNS server for the corresponding IP address.

    Tips & Tricks:
It is important to ensure that the DNS server used by the ICM is up-to-date and reliable. If the DNS server is not responding or is returning incorrect information, then the ICM will not be able to resolve host names correctly.
