When an SAP transaction is started, two temporary lock owners dialog owner and update owner are always created, which on their part can request locks. With the _SCOPE parameter, the ABAP programmer can specify whether the lock has one or two owners. If_SCOPE = 1, the lock belongs to the dialog owner. If_SCOPE = 2, the lock belongs to the update owner. If_SCOPE = 3, the lock belongs to both owners. The locks are removed when the update transaction is finished.
