What is subsystem isolation in SAP BC-CCM-BTC - Background Processing?

SAP Term: subsystem isolation

  • Component: BC-CCM-BTC

  • Component Name: Background Processing

  • Description: The process of subdividing a system into two separate subsystems during the upgrade procedure "Zero Downtime Option for SUM". The processes of these two subsystems are isolated to prevent background jobs of the productive subsystem from being executed in the upgrade subsystem. Similarly, background jobs of the upgrade subsystem must not run on a server of the productive subsystem which is operated in parallel. This could lead to a situation where several background jobs are not executed although free server resources are available.

  • Key Concepts:
Subsystem isolation is a feature of the SAP BC-CCM-BTC Background Processing component that allows for the separation of different processes into distinct subsystems. This ensures that processes do not interfere with each other and that resources are used efficiently. It also helps to prevent errors from occurring due to conflicting processes.

    How to use it:
Subsystem isolation can be enabled in the SAP system by setting up a separate subsystem for each process. This can be done in the SAP system by going to the “Background Processing” tab in the “System Administration” menu. From there, you can create a new subsystem and assign it to a specific process. Once this is done, the process will be isolated from other processes and will run independently.

    Tips & Tricks:
When setting up subsystems, it is important to ensure that each process has its own dedicated resources. This will help to ensure that processes do not interfere with each other and that resources are used efficiently. Additionally, it is important to monitor the performance of each subsystem to ensure that they are running optimally.
