  • What causes this issue?

During manual planning you can navigate between the overview and period
screens and also to the screen between the different characteristic
levels. As long as you do not leave the overview or period screen, the
locked data or total cells will be temporarily stored in a program
buffer (not in the database) every time you change screens. This
ensures that the cells remain locked if you return to a screen with a
certain combination of characteristics for which the cells were already
locked. The buffer <ZH>cannot</> remain intact if the settings for the
lead columns that have not yet been displayed are changed (for example,
    by displaying subtotals).

    System Response

If the settings for the lead columns are changed, the buffer containing
all the locked cells from the screens processed so far will be deleted.
If you navigate back to one of these screens later, the cells that were
locked before will no longer be locked.
If you do not change the settings the buffer will stay as it is. If you
navigate back to a screen that has already been processed, the cells
that were locked before will still be locked.

    How to fix this error?

When you first enter the overview screen, select the lead column
setting that you require. If possible, do not change this setting
during the course of manual planning or only change it if you are sure
you no longer need to navigate back to the period screen or to a
characteristics combination that you have already processed in the
overview screen. If you do this, the buffer will be deleted and then
    recreated.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WXPB219 - Making changes will delete locked cells from the memory (see long text) ?

    SAP Error Message:
WXPB219Making changes will delete locked cells from the memory (see long text)

    Cause

This message typically appears in SAP when you are working with Excel-based planning or data entry interfaces integrated with SAP (such as SAP BPC, SAP BW Integrated Planning, or SAP Analysis for Office). The system detects that making changes to the data will cause locked cells (cells that are protected or not editable) to be removed from the internal memory or cache.

In other words, when you modify certain data in the Excel interface, the system warns that the locked cells currently held in memory will be discarded. This can happen because the data structure or the data cache needs to be refreshed or recalculated, and locked cells cannot be preserved in this process.

    Explanation / Long Text (Typical)

The long text of the message usually explains that:

    • Locked cells are currently stored in the memory.
    • If you proceed with the changes, these locked cells will be deleted from the memory.
    • This might affect the data integrity or the layout of the planning interface.
    • You should be aware that continuing might cause loss of locked cell information in the current session.

    When does this happen?

    • When you try to change data in a planning layout or Excel sheet connected to SAP.
    • When the system needs to refresh or reload data, and locked cells cannot be retained.
    • When the planning function or data entry interface enforces cell locking to prevent overwriting certain data.

Solution / How to handle it

    1. Understand the impact:
Before proceeding, understand that locked cells will be removed from memory, which might affect your current data entry or layout.

    2. Save your work:
Save any important data or layout settings before making changes.

    3. Proceed with caution:
If you are sure about the changes, confirm and proceed. The system will delete locked cells from memory and apply your changes.

    4. Reapply locks if necessary:
After changes, you might need to re-lock certain cells or reapply formatting/protection as required.

    5. Check planning layout settings:
If this message appears frequently and disrupts your work, review the planning layout or Excel template settings to minimize locked cells or adjust the locking strategy.

    6. Consult documentation or support:
If unsure, consult your SAP BW/BPC or Analysis for Office documentation or contact your SAP support team for guidance tailored to your specific scenario.
