SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: WXCM - Messages for Package CM_MAP

  • Message number: 001

  • Message text: Unable to construct a master data hierarchy for this combination

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have specified a hierarchy structure and, when necessary, a
selection characteristic to transfer a master data hierarchy into a
    planning hierarchy.
The combinations of master data hierarchy entries are created,
depending on the hierarchy structure and selection characteristics,
using a function module. The name of the function module is defined in
    a customizing table (TWISPC_FBMDHIE).
No function module is stored in this table for the combination of
hierarchy structure and selection characteristics that you specified.

    System Response

The system cannot create the planning hierarchy.

    How to fix this error?

Check you entries and, if necessary, maintain the assignment of the
corresponding function modules for the hierarchy structure and the
structure for the selection characteristics. You do this in transaction
    CMMAP02.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WXCM001 - Unable to construct a master data hierarchy for this combination ?

    SAP Error Message:
WXCM001 - Unable to construct a master data hierarchy for this combination

    Cause:

This error typically occurs in SAP when the system is unable to build or find a valid master data hierarchy for a given combination of master data objects. This is common in modules like SAP Customer Management (CRM), SAP Hybris, or other SAP components that rely on hierarchical master data structures.

    The root causes can include:

    • Missing or incomplete master data hierarchy: The system expects a hierarchy (e.g., organizational units, business partners, products) but cannot find a valid or complete hierarchy for the given combination.
    • Incorrect or inconsistent master data relationships: The links or references between master data objects are broken or inconsistent.
    • Configuration issues: The hierarchy definition or the rules for constructing the hierarchy are not properly configured.
    • Authorization or data access issues: The user or process does not have the necessary permissions to access the required master data.
    • Data replication or synchronization problems: In distributed systems, the master data might not be properly replicated or synchronized across systems.

    Solution:

To resolve the WXCM001 error, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Master Data Completeness:

      • Verify that all required master data objects exist and are correctly maintained.
      • Ensure that the hierarchy nodes (e.g., parent-child relationships) are properly defined and complete.
    2. Validate Hierarchy Configuration:

      • Review the configuration settings related to master data hierarchies.
      • Check the hierarchy definitions in customizing (e.g., transaction codes like SPRO or specific CRM customizing).
      • Ensure that the hierarchy construction rules are correctly set up.
    3. Check Data Consistency:

      • Run consistency checks on master data to identify broken links or missing references.
      • Use standard SAP tools or reports to validate master data integrity.
    4. Review Authorizations:

      • Confirm that the user or process has the necessary authorizations to read the master data.
      • Check roles and profiles assigned to the user.
    5. Data Replication and Synchronization:

      • If the system landscape involves multiple systems (e.g., ECC and CRM), verify that master data replication is working correctly.
      • Check middleware or integration tools for errors.
    6. Debugging and Logs:

      • Use transaction codes like SLG1 (Application Log) to find detailed error logs.
      • Debug the process if possible to identify where the hierarchy construction fails.
    7. SAP Notes and Support:

      • Search for SAP Notes related to WXCM001 for any known issues or patches.
      • If the problem persists, consider raising a support ticket with SAP, providing detailed logs and system information.

    Related Information:

    • Modules Affected: SAP CRM, SAP Hybris, SAP Customer Management, or any module using hierarchical master data.
    • Common Transactions/Tools:
      • SPRO – Customizing for hierarchy settings.
      • BP – Business Partner master data maintenance.
      • SLG1 – Application log for error details.
    • SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for notes referencing WXCM001.
    • Hierarchy Types: Organizational hierarchy, product hierarchy, customer hierarchy, etc.
    • Master Data Maintenance: Ensure master data is maintained consistently across all relevant systems.

    Summary:
The WXCM001 error indicates a failure in constructing a master data hierarchy due to missing, inconsistent, or improperly configured master data or hierarchy definitions. The solution involves verifying master data completeness, hierarchy configuration, authorizations, and data synchronization, along with consulting SAP logs and notes for further guidance.
