The link cannot be removed because at least one plant is assigned.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Check the plant/material group assignment and any value-only material
assignments. Only once these assignments have been deleted can the
material group hierarchy assignment itself be deleted.
