Message text: Sorting by layout not possible because of PDC transaction mass processing
You set the indicator "Sorting According to Layout" while sending the
physical inventory documents. However, plant &1 uses the PDC procedure
of mass maintenance in SAP Retail Store. For this reason, sorting
according to layout is not allowed.
The system cancels the formatting of the outbound IDocs for this plant.
Send the physical inventory documents again without setting the
indicator "Sorting According to Layout".
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Sorting by layout not possible because of PDC transaction mass processing ?The SAP error message WVFI_ADD008 indicates that sorting by layout is not possible due to the PDC (Process Data Collection) transaction mass processing. This error typically arises in the context of data processing in SAP, particularly when dealing with large volumes of data or specific configurations in the PDC module.
Cause:
- Mass Processing in PDC: The error occurs when there is an attempt to sort data in a layout while a mass processing transaction is active in the PDC. This can happen if multiple users are trying to access or manipulate the same data simultaneously.
- Locking Mechanism: SAP uses a locking mechanism to prevent data inconsistencies. If a transaction is locked for mass processing, other operations, such as sorting, cannot be performed until the lock is released.
- Configuration Issues: There may be specific configurations in the PDC settings that lead to this error, especially if the system is not optimized for handling concurrent processes.
Solution:
- Wait for Mass Processing to Complete: The simplest solution is to wait until the mass processing transaction is completed. Once the transaction is finished, you should be able to sort the data as needed.
- Check for Active Sessions: Use transaction codes like SM12 (to check for locks) and SM21 (to check system logs) to identify if there are any active sessions that are causing the lock.
- Review PDC Configuration: Ensure that the PDC configuration is optimized for your business processes. This may involve consulting with your SAP Basis or technical team to review settings and performance.
- User Coordination: If multiple users are accessing the same data, coordinate with your team to avoid simultaneous mass processing tasks that could lead to this error.
- System Performance: If this error occurs frequently, consider reviewing the system performance and resource allocation to ensure that it can handle the load effectively.
