  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WRF_AT139 - AUREL change not permitted, because PO split for alloc. table item (FBG) ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation regarding the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

WRF_AT139 AUREL change not permitted, because PO split for alloc. table item (FBG)

    Cause:

This error occurs when you attempt to change the AUREL field (which typically relates to the release indicator or release status in purchasing documents) in a Purchase Order (PO) item that has already been split for allocation purposes in the system.

    • The system uses allocation tables (FBG) to manage the distribution of costs or quantities across different account assignment objects.
    • When a PO item is split for allocation, certain fields become locked or protected to maintain consistency and integrity of the allocation data.
    • Changing the AUREL field (release status) is not allowed because it could invalidate the allocation splits or cause inconsistencies in the release strategy or workflow.

    Solution:

    1. Check Allocation Splits:

      • Review the PO item to see if it has been split for allocation (e.g., cost center, order, project).
      • Use transaction codes like ME23N to display the PO and check the account assignment tab for splits.
    2. Avoid Changing AUREL Directly:

      • Since the system restricts changes to the release indicator for split items, avoid trying to change this field directly.
      • If a change is necessary, consider whether the allocation splits need to be removed or adjusted first.
    3. Remove or Adjust Allocation Splits:

      • If business processes allow, remove the allocation splits from the PO item.
      • After removing splits, you may be able to change the AUREL field.
      • Be cautious: removing splits may have financial or controlling implications.
    4. Use Correct Process for Release Changes:

      • Changes to release indicators should be done through the standard release strategy process.
      • If the PO is blocked or needs re-release, use the release strategy transactions or workflows rather than manual field changes.
    5. Consult with Controlling/Procurement Teams:

      • Since allocation splits involve controlling/account assignment, coordinate with these teams before making changes.
      • Ensure that any changes comply with internal controls and reporting requirements.

    Related Information:

    • AUREL Field: Represents the release indicator/status in purchasing documents.
    • Allocation Table (FBG): Used in SAP to manage splits of PO items for cost distribution.
    • Release Strategy: SAP's mechanism to control the approval and release of purchasing documents.
    • Transactions:
      • ME23N: Display Purchase Order.
      • ME22N: Change Purchase Order (may be restricted for this field).
      • ME28: Release Purchase Order.
    • Notes and Documentation:
      • Check SAP OSS Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error.
      • Review SAP Help Portal documentation on release strategies and account assignment splits.

    Summary:

The error WRF_AT139 occurs because the system prevents changes to the release indicator (AUREL) on PO items that have been split for allocation purposes. To resolve, avoid direct changes to AUREL on such items, consider adjusting or removing allocation splits if business processes allow, and always follow the standard release strategy procedures.
