SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: WR - Messages for Revaluation at Retail

  • Message number: 301

  • Message text: Valuation price of component & in plant & is zero

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want to post a goods movement for a structured material. In breaking
down or combining the structured material, the system determines the
cost value in relation to the retail value.
It uses the current valuation price (standard price or moving-average
price) of the components as a basis.
This error occurs due to one of the following reasons:
The valuation price is zero: If the current valuation price of a
component is zero, the system cannot carry out the calculation for the
    material.
Rounding issues: The structured article may contain a component whose
proportion on the complete quantity and amount is very small. The
valuation of this component is calculated based on the valuation price
of the header - if this calculation leads to a further very small value
such that the rounding of it leads to zero, the system cannot carry out
    the calculation of this material.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Check the current valuation price (standard price or moving-average
price) of material &V1& in plant &V2& in the accounting view of the
material master. If the valuation price is zero, carry out a price
change for the material. (revaluation at cost, transaction MR21).

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WR301 - Valuation price of component & in plant & is zero ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation for the SAP error message WR301: Valuation price of component & in plant & is zero:

    Error Message

WR301: Valuation price of component & in plant & is zero

    Cause

This error occurs during the production order costing or goods issue process when the system tries to value a component used in production, but the valuation price (standard price or moving average price) of that component in the specified plant is zero or not maintained.

In other words, the system cannot determine the value of the component because the material master does not have a valid price for the component in the plant where the production is taking place.

    When does it occur?

    • During production order confirmation or goods issue for components.
    • During costing run or order settlement.
    • When the system tries to calculate the cost of components consumed in production.
    • When the material master for the component does not have a valid valuation price in the plant.

    Solution

    1. Check Material Master Valuation Data:

      • Go to transaction MM03 (Display Material).
      • Enter the component material number and plant.
      • Navigate to the Accounting 1 view.
      • Check the Valuation Price field.
      • If the valuation price is zero or blank, this is the root cause.
    2. Maintain Valuation Price:

      • Use transaction MM02 (Change Material).
      • Enter the material and plant.
      • Go to Accounting 1 view.
      • Enter a valid Standard Price (S) or Moving Average Price (V) depending on the valuation type.
      • Save the changes.
    3. Check Price Control Indicator:

      • In the material master, ensure the Price Control Indicator (Standard Price 'S' or Moving Average 'V') is correctly set.
      • If the price control is 'S' (Standard Price), the standard price must be maintained.
      • If 'V' (Moving Average Price), the system calculates the price automatically, but if no goods movements or invoices have been posted, the price might be zero.
    4. Run a Price Update or Revaluation:

      • If the material is moving average price controlled and the price is zero, you may need to post a goods receipt or invoice receipt to update the moving average price.
      • Alternatively, run a revaluation or price update if applicable.
    5. Check Plant-Specific Settings:

      • Ensure the material is extended to the plant where production is happening.
      • Use transaction MM01 or MM02 to extend the material to the plant if not already done.
    6. Check BOM and Routing:

      • Verify that the BOM components are correctly maintained and assigned to the plant.
      • Ensure the components are valid and active.

    Additional Information

    • This error is common in manufacturing environments where materials are used in production orders.
    • It prevents incorrect costing or valuation of production components.
    • Always ensure that the material master data is complete and accurate before production.
    • If you are using Standard Price valuation, the standard price must be maintained manually.
    • If you are using Moving Average Price, ensure that the material has had at least one goods receipt or invoice receipt to establish a price.
    • This error can also occur if the material is flagged as non-valuated or if the valuation area is not correctly set.

    Summary

    Aspect Details
Cause Component material valuation price in the plant is zero or not maintained.
Solution Maintain a valid valuation price in the material master for the component in the plant.
    Transaction(s) MM02 (Change Material), MM03 (Display Material)
Check Material master accounting view, price control indicator, plant extension, BOM validity.
