- Unable to delete. Exception &1 is inherited by surrounding block ?The SAP error message WO167 "Unable to delete. Exception &1 is inherited by surrounding block" typically occurs when there is an attempt to delete a work order or a related object in SAP, but the system prevents the deletion due to certain constraints or dependencies.
Cause:
- Dependencies: The work order may have dependencies, such as linked documents, operations, or other objects that prevent it from being deleted.
- Status: The work order might be in a status that does not allow deletion (e.g., completed, closed, or released).
- Authorizations: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to delete the work order.
- Inherent Exceptions: The error message indicates that there is an exception that is inherited from a surrounding block, which means that the deletion is being blocked by a higher-level process or transaction.
Solution:
- Check Dependencies: Review the work order for any linked documents, operations, or other dependencies. Ensure that all related objects are either deleted or unlinked.
- Change Status: If the work order is in a status that does not allow deletion, consider changing its status to one that does (if applicable) or consult with your process owner about the appropriate action.
- Review Authorizations: Ensure that the user attempting to delete the work order has the necessary authorizations. If not, contact your SAP security administrator to obtain the required permissions.
- Use Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like IW32 (Change Work Order) to check the status and dependencies of the work order. You can also use IW39 (Display Work Orders) to get an overview of the work orders and their statuses.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling work orders and their deletion processes.
- Error Handling: If the error persists, consider checking the system logs (transaction SLG1) for more detailed error messages that could provide additional context.
