SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: WLC_PARALLEL - Load Distribution and External Parallel Processing

  • Message number: 039

  • Message text: Selection option &1 (field &2) is filled to create parallel jobs

  • Show details Hide details
  • &DEFINITION&
The selection option &V1& is filled so that every parallel (sub) job
processes a part that does not overlap with others in the entire
worklist. The values are taken from the table field &V2&.
    &USE&
This radio button can be selected in advance, if you enter the value
&V1& in the field <DS:DE.WLC_SELOPT_TO_FILL>Selection option to be
to be filled</> in the Customizing (transaction
<DS:TRAN.WLCPARC>WLCPARC</>), view <ZH>Default Values for Selection
    Value</>.
    &DEPENDENCIES&
If the field &V2& already appears either as it is or as another version
(with the same data element, the same domain) in another table that is
selected for estimating the worklist, then the table of &V2& is no
longer selected as well. Otherwise, this additional access to the
    database has to be implemented.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WLC_PARALLEL039 - Selection option &1 (field &2) is filled to create parallel jobs ?

The SAP error message WLC_PARALLEL039 indicates that a selection option for a field is filled in a way that is not compatible with the creation of parallel jobs. This typically occurs in the context of background processing or parallel processing in SAP, where certain selection criteria must be defined correctly to allow for the effective distribution of workload across multiple jobs.

    Cause:

    The error is triggered when:

    • A selection option (like a range or specific value) for a field is filled in a way that does not allow for the parallelization of jobs.
    • The system expects certain fields to be left empty or filled in a specific manner to enable parallel processing.
    • There may be conflicting or incompatible selection criteria that prevent the system from splitting the workload into parallel jobs.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Review Selection Criteria: Check the selection options for the field mentioned in the error message. Ensure that they are filled out correctly and do not conflict with the requirements for parallel processing.

    2. Adjust Selection Options: If you have filled in multiple selection options for a field that should only have one, or if you have ranges that are too broad, consider narrowing down the selection criteria.

    3. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or help resources for the specific transaction or report you are working with. There may be specific guidelines on how to set up selection criteria for parallel processing.

    4. Test with Minimal Criteria: Try running the job with minimal selection criteria to see if it processes successfully. If it does, gradually add back your selection options to identify which one is causing the issue.

    5. Check for Updates: Ensure that your SAP system is up to date with the latest patches and updates, as there may be bug fixes or improvements related to parallel processing.

    6. Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists and you cannot identify the cause, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They may have additional insights or solutions based on your specific system configuration.

    Related Information:

    • Parallel Processing: This is a method used in SAP to improve performance by executing multiple jobs simultaneously. It is often used in data processing tasks, such as report generation or data migration.
    • Background Jobs: In SAP, background jobs can be scheduled to run at specific times or triggered by certain events. Proper configuration of selection criteria is crucial for efficient job execution.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes (like SM37 for monitoring jobs) to help diagnose and manage background jobs effectively.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the WLC_PARALLEL039 error and successfully create parallel jobs in your SAP environment.
